What is a doula?A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to expecting mothers before, during, and after childbirth. A doula's role is to help the mother have a safe, memorable, and positive birth experience by offering guidance, comfort, and advocacy. Unlike a midwife or a doctor, a doula does not perform medical procedures or make decisions on behalf of the mother. Instead, a doula works alongside the medical team to ensure the mother's needs are met and her wishes are respected. A doula's services can be invaluable to parents who want extra support during this transformative time in their lives.

How do you support partners during labor? As a doula, I believe that partners play a crucial role during labor and delivery. My main goal is to support and empower both the birthing person and their partner throughout the entire process. I do this by providing emotional support, education, and physical comfort measures. During labor, I can help partners by guiding them through different techniques such as massage, breathing exercises, and positioning. I also make sure to provide opportunities for partners to take breaks and rest when needed. I provide emotional support, encouragement, and guidance to help partners better understand what is happening during labor. Ultimately, my role is to create a supportive and positive environment for both the birthing person and their partner so that they can have the best possible birth experience.
